Amanda Wells

Meet Amanda Wells, a Quality and Surgical Services Coordinator for the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin.

What drew you to donation, and how did you get started?

Before working at LEBW I spent many years working in the healthcare field. After taking numerous years off to raise my boys, I discovered the opportunity with LEBW. I loved the idea of having a career in donation and helping others, and after 5 years I still do.

What is your favorite memory from working at LEBW?

It is not necessary a single memory, but my favorite moments are hearing the stories from recipients and donor families.

What advice would you give someone just starting their career in donation?

Be patient. Take time to understand all the steps and hard work each department puts into the donation process.

Tell us about your family.

I have a wonderful chaotic blended family. Between my boyfriend Corey and I we have four boys named Jaxon-16, Julian-16, Brady-13, and Jax-12. We also have two dogs named Buck and Madden who happen to also be boys. With that being said there is never a dull moment.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Majority of my time outside of work involves sporting events that all our children are involved in. I enjoy being at every football, basketball, baseball and track event. Although it can be stressful getting everyone where they need to be and sitting on bleachers for multiple games in multiple locations all in one day, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

How do you unwind after a long day?

After a long day of work and running around for the boys, I enjoy relaxing with a glass of wine, whether I’m watching a good series, reading a good book, or listening to music while enjoying a fire outside.
