A Transformative tool for education and advocacy
Developed by Dr. Michael Ullman, this cutting-edge app allows users to experience life as it is for those living with vision impairment caused by eye diseases. Whether on an Apple smartphone or tablet (coming soon to Android), this immersive tool recreates the challenges faced by individuals with conditions that often lead to corneal transplants.
The app uses a variety of eye diseases and provides a simulation of what a person would see if they suffered from that condition. Simulated conditions include:
• Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy
• Keratoconus
• Cataracts
• Diabetic Retinopathy
• Macular Degeneration
• Astigmatism
• Glaucoma
Each condition has various levels of severity to show the user what each severity of the visual impairment looks like to those living with that condition.
Turning Compassion into Action!
The app isn’t just about raising awareness and inspiring change. Built into the app is a seamless way to support the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin’s mission. Users are encouraged to:
- Register as cornea donors, helping to provide the gift of sight to those in need.
- Make financial contributions to sustain sight-restoring programs and ensure all who need it have access to corneal transplants here in Wisconsin and worldwide!
Every download and every dollar donated through the app brings us closer to a world where no one has to live in darkness.
