The Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin is honoring the family of Ralph Krueger with the 2023 Lions Legacy of Sight Award. Since 2007, Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin (LEBW) has honored organ, eye, and tissue donation advocates who have shown commitment and passion by sharing the mission of healing lives through the gift of transplantation.

Ralph was a member of the Watertown Lions Club for more than 40 years, joining on March 30, 1981, and was one of his club’s LEBW tissue transporters. His fellow club members estimate Ralph had done more than 1,000 transports. Ralph loved this service project and would take his wife, his daughters, and his grandchildren, and more on transports with him whenever his dispatcher would call that tissue needed transporting.

Sadly, Ralph passed away in December of 2022. To honor Ralph’s memory, his family asked family and friends to make memorials in Ralph’s name to the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin. LEBW was an organization that Ralph and his family loved to volunteer for and they shared that love many times over with family and friends through Ralph’s work as a transporter.

The Lions Legacy of Sight Award is presented annually and honors individuals outside the professional donation and transplantation community who have significantly impacted the public about donation and promoting donor registration on a state or national level.
