Sarah Carlson, Reporter and News Anchor with NBC 15 was the Emcee for the Lions
Eye Bank of Wisconsin’s third annual Gift of Sight ~ Gift of Life Luncheon at the
Crowne Plaza in Madison, Wisconsin on March 19, 2009. Exactly 100 people were in
attendance to celebrate the Gift of Sight. Two honorees were presented with the Crystal
Vision Award. Hannah Rosenthal is the Corporate Vice President with Wisconsin
Physicians Service Insurance. Hannah has a personal commitment to improving the lives
of people in Wisconsin. Along with Donate Life Wisconsin, Hannah and WPS Insurance
have helped to raise awareness of Eye, Tissue and organ donation. WPS is the proud
sponsor of the donation mascot “Dottie the Dot.” Hannah is working to get one million
more people to make the commitment of sharing their intent to donate. Also receiving
the award was Reverend Jeff Fairchild with Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston,
Wisconsin for 18 years promoting the spiritual, emotional and psychological care to
patients, family and community members. He is the Director of Pastoral Care and the
Director of Volunteers for the hospital and outreach clinics. Mitch Henck with WIBA
and talk show host of Outside the Box was the keynote speaker for the day’s event.
Mitch has made a personal commitment to continue to raise awareness and educate the
public on the importance of Eye Donation and the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin.
2nd Annual Gift of Sight, Gift of Life Luncheon

Madison, Wisconsin ~ The Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin will host the 2nd Annual Gift of Sight, Gift of Life Luncheon on March 20, 2008 at the Marriott Madison West. Over 150 attendees celebrated National Eye Donation Month (March), as proclaimed by Governor Jim Doyle, and heard an inspiring keynote address by Coach Bret Bielema, Wisconsin Football, at the 2007 event.
NBC15 and 93.1 The Lake will join forces again with Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin to promote the 2008 event. The CrystalVision Awardwill honor two individuals, who have shown outstanding contributions in the field of eye, tissue, and organ donation. Lisa Johnson and Mary Nachreiner were 2007 Award Recipients. Nominate someone you know today!

Madison, Wisconsin ~ In 2006, the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin provided over 1,500 eyes for transplant, research, and education. With your help, we can do more! Scheduled for June 5, 2008, the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin will host the 3rd Annual Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin Golf Outing at The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. Anticipating over 100 participants, this funfilled day will feature 18holes of golf, cart, lunch, dinner, silent auction, and more!
Third time’s a charm! The public is encouraged to attend! The main event includes 18 holes of golf plus golf cart, holeinone prizes, golfer gifts, lunch, dinner, and a silent auction.

Madison, Wisconsin ~ The Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin proudly announces that Sue Sabin, Quality Systems Director, and Wendy Wright, Office Manager, will be inducted as new club members into the Madison Central Lions Club on February 6, 2007 at Noon at the Edgewater Hotel in Madison.
The Madison Lions Club, organized in March, 1922, Chartered May 16, 1922, was established with the purpose of bringing to our community the service and activities of civic minded individuals through the concepts of Lionism. Club founder, Ted Herfurth, never let pass an opportunity to remind us of this purpose and to caution us that, should we ever permit ourselves to become a “knife and fork” club, our reason for existence would be nil. From its inception, our Club has made every effort to remain on the course of Service to All.

October 2006
Verona, Wisconsin ~ The Verona Low Vision Support Group met on Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Verona Senior Center to learn all about eye donation. A LEBW employee spoke to the group about organ, tissue, and eye donation after death. The LEBW employee also shared the importance of placing the orange donor dot on your driver’s license in addition to telling your family members and loved ones about your decisions regarding organ, tissue, and eye donation. She also brought eye facts into focus, dispelling common myths regarding eye donation.
The Verona Low Vision Support Group meets at the Verona Senior Center once a month. In addition to a different speaker each month, attendees have the opportunity to meet others with low vision problems and share common stories. Madison, Wisconsin ~ David C. Butters, CEBT, Executive Director, Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin (LEBW) has been nominated as a Wisconsin Donor Network Advisory Board member. With over 25 years of senior healthcare experience, David is mission-driven, passionate about sight restoration, and a cancer survivor. He understands firsthand the importance of donation. David believes that the altruism of the people of Wisconsin, the expertise, experience and dedication of the LEBW staff, and the support of the Lions organization will help forward the mission of the Wisconsin Donor Network. The Wisconsin Donor Network is the federally designated organ procurement organization supporting the transplant community in eastern Wisconsin. Guided by an advisory board consisting of members drawn from the community and affiliated transplant centers, the network is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and serves 2.2 million people in a 10-county region, including Door, Kenosha, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha counties. The Wisconsin Donor Network is also affiliated with the 45 acute-care hospitals in eastern Wisconsin, the transplant programs at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital and St. Luke’s Medical Center, as well as the Wisconsin Lion’s Eye Bank and the Wisconsin Tissue Bank.
